Rotherham United defender Richard Wood has had his red card from Saturday’s game with Sheffield Wednesday rescinded.

The defender was sent off late on as the Owls were given an injury time penalty, but after the Millers appealed against the decision; the subsequent ban has now been revoked.

Wood was set for a one match suspension, but will now be available for the Boxing Day home fixture against Wigan Athletic at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“It’s great news and I’m not surprised by the decision,” interim manager Paul Warne told www.themillers.co.uk

“I spoke to the referee after the game, I said it was clumsy if anything and the sending off was harsh.

“We decided to appeal the decision and following today’s announcement, it’s good news for us and it is good news for Woody.”
