Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Interim boss Paul Warne says that he will be looking to inject a new lease of life into the Rotherham United squad as he takes temporary charge of the club following Kenny Jackett’s departure.

The popular fitness coach has been tasked with leading the Millers into Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Burton Albion and insists his aim is to improve the club’s situation in time for the appointment of the next permanent manager.

“If I can try and put a bit of enthusiasm into the lads and try and put some fun into their day and get a little bit more out of them then I’ll do it,” Warne told www.themillers.co.uk.

“I’ll do anything I can to make this team perform at a better level which is more entertaining for the fans to watch.

“I’m happy to take the team for a few weeks until we get someone suitable. I just want to pass it on in a better position than I’ve been given it in.”

Warne continued to add that discussions with Millers’ Chairman Tony Stewart have been positive and explained that he is happy to oversee first team matters until an appropriate replacement for the outgoing Jackett is found.

“It’s been a bit of mayhem and I haven’t slept as well as I normally sleep but I’m excited to do it for as long as the Chairman wants me to do it for,” he added.

“The Chairman has just asked me to give it my best shot and try to galvanise the lads as best I can and hold the fort until someone better than me can come in to hopefully improve us.

“In fairness to the Chairman, he always tries to pick the right man for the club because he wants to win more than anybody else.

“All the managers he’s had in, he’s got them for the right reasons and that was the same with Kenny.

“He’ll pick the man that he thinks is right with all of his advisors and they’ll try and get it right."
