Rotherham United would like to thank Showsec Security for their kind donation of a table at the annual Chairman’s Christmas Ball to the Rotherham Hospice.

The marquee event, which took place in the lounges at AESSEAL New York Stadium following the Millers’ win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday 10th December, saw a host of sponsors and supporters join Chairman Tony Stewart, caretaker manager Paul Warne and the Rotherham United squad for Christmas dinner and other festivities.

Security providers Showsec fully immersed themselves in the Christmas spirit by donating their table at the event to the local hospice, with a number of Hospice representatives joining the gathering in the lounge a fortnight ago.

Rotherham United’s Head of Commercial Mark Hitchens expressed his pleasure at being able to welcome the Broom-based charity, placing on record his sincere thanks to Showsec for their generosity.

“We enjoy a fantastic relationship with the people at Showsec and whilst it would have been brilliant to have had them down at the Christmas Ball, we were even more delighted to see them donate it to such a worthy local cause,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“People in the Rotherham area will be well aware of the service that the Rotherham Hospice provides so it was fantastic to welcome members of their staff as we all come together at Christmas time.

“I would personally like to thank Adam Lofthouse and his team at Showsec, and having spoken to the representatives from the Hospice, I know they were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend.”

Adam Lofthouse, East & South Yorkshire Area Manager of Showsec Security admitted he was delighted to be able to contribute to the festive feeling around the club and was confident that those in attendance would have had an enjoyable time at the event.

"In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, we decided we wanted to donate our place at the Chairman's Christmas Ball to a worthy local charity and there are few in the area more deserving than the Rotherham Hospice.

"It is nice to be able to give something back to the local community and, having attended similar events at the club before myself, am sure that the staff from the Hospice will have enjoyed their evening at AESSEAL New York Stadium.”

Diane Keeley, Head of Family Support Services at the Rotherham Hospice was keen to place on record her thanks to the staff at Showsec and the Millers for their evening at the club.

“On behalf of everyone at the Hospice and all of us in attendance on the night, I would like to wholeheartedly thank Adam and the team at Showsec Security for giving us the opportunity to attend such a fantastic event,” she explained.

“As a charity we rely on the kindness and support of the local community and donations like these are a real display of the fantastic backing we get year round.

“Once again, thank you to Showsec and Rotherham United and Merry Christmas from everyone at the Rotherham Hospice."
