Alan Stubbs talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United manager Alan Stubbs says new loan signing Dael Fry is a player with ‘huge potential’ after completing a loan switch for the defender.

The Middlesbrough youngster has joined the Millers on loan until the end of the season after agreeing the switch to the AESSEAL New York Stadium just hours before the August transfer deadline.

Fry, who played seven times for Boro during their promotion season to the Premier League, has represented England from under 17 through to under 19 level.

Boss Stubbs says he has followed the form of the talented youngster for some time, and is delighted to land the centre half.

“There was a lot of interest around him at a number of Championship clubs and he is someone we have been looking at for a while,” Stubbs told www.themillers.co.uk

“We are delighted to get him in, he is a young defender with huge potential and he is someone that Middlesbrough think very highly of.

“We are thankful that Middlesbrough have allowed him to join us. He was involved in their promotion campaign last season, so that tells you just what they think of him, and we are delighted that we have been given the opportunity to help him develop further.

“He has very good attributes for a defender and has a very bright future ahead of him. I’m sure his performances will show that. I am really looking forward to working with him, and seeing him play in a Rotherham shirt. This is the next step in his development in order for him to play in the Premier League.”

The deadline for signings is 11pm this evening.
