Jon Taylor talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United club record signing Jon Taylor says he agreed his transfer to the Millers 'within minutes' after joining for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has signed a three-year contract to become Alan Stubbs' sixth close season signing after passing a medical this morning.

The former Shrewsbury ace said it was an easy decision to move to South Yorkshire, explaining that a deal to join the Millers was done in express time.

"There were a few clubs interested and then it went quiet, then there was some interest again, and once I heard about Rotherham I said that I wanted to get the deal done straight away," Taylor explained to Millers Player HD.

"The deal was done within minutes.

"It is a great club and I cannot wait to get started. As soon as I knew that the club were interested I was literally here within a couple of hours wanting to get the deal done."

The lively front man can play either out wide or through the middle, and bagged 13 goals for Posh in League One last season.

After serving his apprenticeship in League One and Two, the Liverpool-born livewire says he is now ready to make the step up to The Championship.

"When the season finished last year, it was one of my aims," he added.

"I did well last year, I finished with 13 goals so the aim was to go to The Championship.

"I have had a look around, the pitch looks unbelievable and I can't wait to get playing on it. The stadium looks great and the manager was also a big reason why I came here. I've heard lots of good things about him, so he is someone I want to play under."

Taylor has already guaranteed the Rotherham supporters wholehearted commitment to the shirt, whilst he is also looking forward to improving as a player under Alan Stubbs and John Doolan.

"I will bring energy. I am a winner," he continued.

"The club will know, and the fans, that I play for the shirt - that means a lot to me. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I just can't wait to get going.

"I can't wait to get playing. I know that they (the coaching staff) will improve me as a player, and they are someone that you want to play well for. I am really looking forward to it."
