Liverpool-born attacker Jon Taylor joins the Millers as Alan Stubbs’ sixth signing at the AESSEAL New York Stadium at the helm and boasts a wealth of English Football League experience despite being a relative youngster at 24-years-old.

Taylor’s earliest involvement with a professional club was with Wigan Athletic by whom he was released as a trainee in 2008, which prompted Shropshire club Shrewsbury Town to swoop for his services following a recommendation from former midfielder Tony Kelly.

He would progress through the youth ranks at Greenhaus Meadow to earn a debut for the Shrews in 2010 which would be the first of over 130 appearances he would go on to make for the club, with his keen eye for a goal also seeing him notch over 20 goals.

Following Shrewsbury’s relegation to League Two, Peterborough United came calling, landing Taylor’s services in 2014 for an undisclosed fee. His two seasons at ABAX Stadium saw him make 68 appearances, scoring 14 goals in the process.
