Trust awarded £5000.00 from Premier League!

13 April 2016

RUCST are delighted to announce we have been awarded £5000.00 from the Premier League to help continue deliver the Premier League Kicks provision in Rotherham.

Our Sport & Community Development team have been busy delivering the PL Kicks provision across Rotherham since the launch in October, working with young people from various areas such as Brinsworth, Wath, Tinsley, Eastwood, Ferham and Masbrough. Premier League kicks engages young people aged 14+ with weekly sports activities and mass participation tournaments with the intention of providing positive opportunities and increasing sports participation. The Premier League have kindly boosted the project enabling us to expand provision by issuing a grant of £5000.

Our latest tournament took place in Brinsworth with 90 young people taking part, supporting the event were our Education department who came to promote the fantastic opportunities available through our Education Academy for young people aged 16+. We are always keen to add value to our tournaments through adding workshops that are relevant to the lives of young people.

Mark Cummins Community Manager said“Premier League Kicks has been a fantastic success in Rotherham with weekly sessions and regular tournaments that have seen us engage with in excess of 150 young people. We are keen to use the project to bring different communities together and celebrate diversity. Through moving our tournaments around different venues across the borough we are able to give everyone an opportunity to experience the power of Premier League Kicks”
