Millers fall to late defeat at Proact Stadium...

A young Rotherham United reserve side had victory snatched from their grasp as a late show from Chesterfield saw them come behind to win 2-1 at the Proact Stadium.

There was nothing between the two sides until the 76th minute when substitute Fabian Bailey edged the Millers in front, sliding the ball beyond Aaron Chapman, but George Milner’s strike restored parity in Derbyshire before Dion Donohue kept his cool from the spot to ensure the Spireites completed the turnaround.

Chris Dawson’s 25 yard strike posed the most menacing Millers attack of the opening stanza but the former Leeds United midfielder’s effort whistled wide of the post with Chapman at full stretch.

The game burst into life in the second half and the first goal arrived when Bailey latched onto a through ball to give Garreth Barker’s side the advantage.

Milner then headed the hosts level as he towered above a sea of red shirts at the back post to nod beyond former Spireite Alex Cairns.

The game looked headed for a draw until the hosts earned themselves an 89th minute penalty which Donohue stepped up to dispatch, sending Cairns the wrong way.

Unused: Bilboe, Atherton, Muskwe.

Chesterfield: Chapman, Beesley, Daly, Marshall, Jarrald, Maguire, Greaves, Donohue, Simons, Milner, Keillor-Dunn
