Chairman calls for electric derby atmosphere

Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart has called upon the supporters to create an electric atmosphere inside AESSEAL New York Stadium for tonight’s South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sky cameras are in town and the stage is set in Rotherham where the Millers will lock horns with the Owls in front of a sell-out crowd at 7:45pm and Stewart has issued a rallying cry to the red and white contingent in this evening’s crowd.

“The fanfare surrounding tonight’s game is already apparent and you can feel the excitement building around the town as kick off draws ever closer,” he told www.themillers.co.uk

“The supporters will be a crucial factor in this evening’s encounter and we need to create an electric atmosphere as we have done for the big games so many times in the past. I am delighted that the full allocation of tickets have been snapped to ensure this South Yorkshire derby is played in front of what will be a noisy, sell-out crowd.

“As we have seen so many times in the past, the AESSEAL New York Stadium becomes a very special place under the lights and your support from the stands will help determine the outcome of tonight’s game against out local rivals.”

The Millers’ Chariman continued to add that he had been impressed by the performances under new manager Neil Redfearn’s reign, placing particular emphasis on the team’s second half showing against high-flying Reading on Tuesday night which saw them earn a 1-1 draw on home soil.

“I am excited and encouraged by the early signs,” Stewart enthused.

“The second half performance against a team at the top end of the table in midweek was as good as I have seen here at AESSEAL New York Stadium and I am sure if we can recreate that this evening we will record a positive result.

“Neil, Eric and the rest of the staff have worked tirelessly in preparing the team for this game and I have no doubts that the players will be fired up and ready for what I am sure will be a thrilling encounter here tonight."
