John Newman, one of the major breakthrough artists in the UK in recent years, follows his new Top 5 smash hit single “Come And Get It” with the eagerly awaited release of his brand new second album “Revolve”. The follow up to Newman’s Platinum selling number 1 debut “Tribute”, “Revolve” looks set to confirm the Yorkshireman as one of the UK’s most singular talents and consistently successful artists.
The success of “Come And Get It” follows John’s recent collaboration with Calvin Harris on the no. 1 Global smash “Blame” which has sold over 4 million worldwide and has been streamed an unbelievable 270 million times. “Blame” gave John his third UK no. 1 single following Rudimental’s “Feel The Love” and his own chart-topping debut ”Love Me Again”.
Revolve feels classic, timeless, but never retro. Opening with an intro featuring Idris Elba, the album was produced by John and recorded in Los Angeles, London and Miami, alongside a crack team of musicians and producers including Greg Kurstin, (Sia, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry & Lana Del Ray), the legendary Charlie Wilson from The Gap Band on future smash “Tiring Game”, Jack Splash and Jerry Hey’s brass section (Michael Jackson’s‘ Thriller, Quincy Jones). Revolve was also recorded single by single - an approach John learnt from his friend Calvin Harris. “I remember going out for a cigarette, just after we’d finished recording” remarks Newman, “and I thought to myself, ‘This is very surreal, and I’m in LA and making my second record. I’m actually doing it…’”. At this point it’s worth remembering John Newman is 25 years old and in a very short time he’s gone from being a sensitive kid from a small town in North Yorkshire, to a guy who hops back and forward to Los Angeles and records at Michael Jackson’s old studio.
