Luke Hyam talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

New signing Luke Hyam says that Rotherham United have the squad to move up the Sky Bet Championship table.

The Ipswich Town loanee completed his second day of training at Roundwood this morning, after completing formalities on an emergency loan until January yesterday.

Hyam leaves Portman Road for the first time after appearing over 100 times for the Tractor Boys, after Millers boss Neil Redfearn swooped for the combative midfielder.

Now in new surroundings in South Yorkshire, the 24-year-old has been impressed with his new team mates, concluding the Millers have the required ammunition to fire themselves away from the relegation zone.

“I don’t see why the club can’t move forward,” he told www.themillers.co.uk

“It looks as though we have a good group of strong, experienced Championship players, with some good young players too. We certainly have what it takes to push up the league.

“I know the lads got a really good victory at the weekend so there is real competition for places. Just being here, being involved with the lads and breaking into the matchday squad for Saturday will be nice, and hopefully we can get another three points again.”

Hyam is a product of the successful Ipswich Academy, but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season after successfully battling back from injury.

The Ipswich-born box-to-box star is looking forward to the experience of playing in fresh surroundings, and is looking to help the Millers as the club prepare for a crucial stage of the campaign.

“I made my debut at 18 and I’m 24 now so I have played quite a few games at this level now and hopefully that experience will stand me in good stead for the loan spell here,” he added.

“The games all come thick and fast now. I think there are six games in the next month so that will be enjoyable and I am sure that everyone is up for the challenge ahead.”
