Manchester City youngster hoping to impress in loan spell...
Manchester City starlet Brandon Barker is hoping to use his loan spell with Rotherham United as an opportunity to express himself on the pitch. The 19-year-old, who has represented England across a number of age groups, has found first team opportunities hard to come by at the Etihad Stadium and was delighted to join the Millers after hearing about the interest from South Yorkshire.
“I first heard about the attention the day before the Ipswich game,” Barker explained.
“Someone from Manchester City came up and spoke to me about it and I was really interested straight away.
“I’ve been on the bench maybe nine or 10 times this season and its been frustrating not to play but their team is full of world class players so it’s hard to break in.”
Barker’s Rotherham United debut was not his first outing at AESSEAL New York Stadium, with the young attacker featuring in the young Three Lions’ side that recorded victory over Italy in Rotherham .
“I’ve played three or four times here already,” he told www.themillers.co.uk
“The stadium is great and the pitch is unbelievable and it’s easily one of the best places I’ve played at.”
The highly-rated teenager is relishing the opportunity to work with Millers’ boss Neil Redfearn and has vowed to put everything in to help the club climb the Sky Bet Championship table.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Neil,” Barker enthused.
“I’ve met him before and he seems a really nice guy and I just hope I can give him and the fans my best.
“You come on loan to express yourself and hopefully I can do that with Rotherham and really lift the team."
