Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...
Rotherham United can now confirm the club will be returning to Scotland this July for a pre-season tour.
The Millers have successfully toured north of the border over the past two years and will be returning for three games between the 18th and 25th July.
Steve Evans’ side will once again visit Greenock Morton for the third time in as many years, whilst also taking in games with Partick Thistle and Dundee.
The Millers will be arriving on Thursday 16th July before taking on Greenock Morton on Saturday 18th July at Cappielow Park, kick off 3pm.
Next up on Tuesday 21st July will be a clash with Scottish Premiership side Dundee at Dens Park (7.30pm), followed by the final game against fellow top-flight side Partick Thistle on Saturday 25th July at Firhill Road (3pm).
Boss Evans is relishing a return to his home country and told www.themillers.co.uk:
“As part of our pre-season preparations we will be making our customary trip north of the border in mid July.
“The quality of opposition is a major step up than what we have faced in previous years with two Scottish Premiership sides and a team that has just become Champions in Scottish League One.
“Each of the opponents we will play have quality grass playing surfaces, and that was important in my decision especially given the artificial surfaces we had to face last summer, which in turn led us to making the decision to travel back home slightly earlier than planned. This year there will be no such issues.
“Games north of the border are always played in a truly competitive style and that is paramount as we get ready for another season of Championship football at AESSEAL New York Stadium.”
