Rotherham native Frazer Richardson watched the climax of the Millers’ 2014/15 campaign from the sidelines as a result of a calf injury and has delayed his close season holiday in a bid to ensure he is back fighting fit for next season.

The experienced full-back had his last taste of match action in the defeat at Nottingham Forest in March where he picked up an injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season but has vowed to return to the fold for the Millers’ pre-season.

The 32-year-old told www.themillers.co.uk that he has been making strides towards returning to fitness in recent weeks and insists his rehabilitation is right on course:

“It’s going well. We’re going to see a couple of people this week just for some different opinions but I should be raring to go come pre-season,” he explained.

With the rest of the Millers’ squad currently engrossed in their close season holiday plans, Richardson has chosen to delay the donning of his beachwear as he looks to regain full fitness:

“I’m trying to get myself right before I go away and I will try and get a holiday in perhaps in early June but it’s important that I get things right with my injury first.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back into it. It should be another good season we have coming up and it was important that we kept ourselves in the Championship like we did last season and now we’ve got to try and kick on a little bit."
