Millers boss Steve Evans has been busy in the player recruitment department since the final day of the 2014/15 campaign and managed to incorporate his plans for next term into a trip to France whilst on a course for his Pro-Licence.
Evans traveled to Olympique de Marseille where he met up with other managers and prospective coaches to take to the classroom to continue to further his qualifications.
“What a fantastic football club it is,” he enthused.
“We got a chance to go there and have a look behind the scenes and spend some time with the key people there and it really is stunning from the main stadium to the training ground.
“You can see it’s very much like Rotherham in that it’s one town, one club and in Marseille it’s the same but in one city.”
The Millers manager also managed to take in some matches during his time across the channel, admitting that a couple of players caught his eye in the process.
“I had a little look at the Toulon tournament as well and I took in three games from that whilst I was in the south of France.
“There were one or two players to note there that we’re keen to have further chats with but those boys are still out there and they’ll want to get back and have a break so it maybe something that pops into July.”
Evans was also impressed by the magnitude of the hosts and was pleased to hear that they had recognised the Millers’ recent exploits.
“It’s a huge football club and I got treated with the utmost respect and they knew a little bit about what’s been happening with the Millers over the last few years which is nice and it’s another module I can tick off as we all continue to learn."
