Steve Evans looks ahead to tonight's game with Dundee...
Manager Steve Evans says his Rotherham United side will face their sternest pre-season test so far when they travel to Dundee tonight.
The Millers make the journey to Dens Park (7.30pm) for their second game of pre-season after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Greenock Morton on Saturday.
Several players were given an extended run at Cappielow Park at the weekend, and the Millers boss confirmed that he will follow the same policy for the game against the Scottish Premiership side this evening.
“There won’t be two teams anymore, that’s for sure,” Evans confirmed.
“We will be strong, it is important that before we go back everyone has had a 90 minutes, or as close to that as possible, to go into the games with Leicester and Mainz, which will be two really tough games.”
Dundee, a division higher than Greenock Morton, are managed by former Scotland international Paul Hartley, and Evans praised the work the former Hearts midfielder has done since arriving at Dens Park in 2014.
“Dundee are a big club and for many years they were the biggest club in the Dundee, and in recent years Paul Hartley has gone in there and done an amazing job,” Evans added.
“Paul has brought them up from the Championship into the Premier League; they finished in the top six which is the benchmark for teams having a successful season up here.
“He came to the hotel for a coffee and told us his recruitment has gone well, and that the pitch will be in great condition, so from that point of view it has all the hallmarks of being a great game.”
