Matt Derbyshire speaks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Millers’ marksman Matt Derbyshire was pleased to be back on the pitch for the first time in the 2015/16 campaign following his involvement in the 3-0 win over Greenock Morton on Saturday.

The former Nottingham Forest frontman returned to match action in Millers’ colours at Cappielow Park and turned in an energetic performance having recovered from an injury sustained in pre-season training.

“It was nice to go and get 60 minutes under my belt. It was my first game back since the tight strain I had,” Derbyshire told www.themillers.co.uk.

“I got a few minutes under my belt and obviously I felt a little bit rusty but it’ll come with more game time and minutes and it’ll get my fitness back to where it was.

“I put myself about getting into the channels whilst also getting in the box and trying to get on the end of a few crosses. It’s nice to get some minutes again and get a feel of the ball.”

Derbyshire lined up alongside former City Ground teammate Greg Halford in attack and the two linked up well in what Paul Raynor described as a traditional little and large partnership in his post-match interview.

“I played a couple of games with him back in the Forest days but not too many. It’s one of those things that every day we’re learning each other’s positions and we’ll see how it works out."
