The Millers are defeated in the Final Third Development League...

Rotherham United Reserves fell to their first defeat of 2015 after a 3-0 loss at home to Huddersfield Town.

In a disappointing afternoon for the Millers they were made to pay for three goals conceded before the break as the visitors earned a comfortable victory.

There were starts for the likes of Ben Pringle, Frazer Richardson and Jordan Bowery with the latter forcing the ball into the net after just two minutes before being denied by the offside flag.

That was about as good as it got for the Millers in the first 45 as Huddersfield took a firm grip on the game. On four minutes Will Boyle fed Jake Charles who fired the ball home left-footed beating Scott Loach.

Huddersfield doubled their advantage on 12 minutes after the Millers failed to deal with a straight ball through the middle allowing Flo Bojaj to slide the ball into the net.

It was 3-0 with just under 10 minutes to go to the break when Matt Crooks rose highest to power home a header from a corner.

At the start of the second half Loach pulled off a brilliant save diving to his top left corner to deny Duane Holmes.

Just before the hour mark the Millers threatened when Conor Newton hammered in a shot from distance from a Pringle lay-off, with the ball ricocheting off Jonson Clarke-Harris before falling kindly to the ‘keeper.

Four minutes later Clarke-Harris fired in a low shot from 30 yards which was parried by Town stopper Ed Wilczynski.

The closest the Millers came to pulling one back was a Paul Taylor free-kick on 72 minutes which cannoned off the crossbar, with the rebound almost finding Jerry Yates who was crowded out.

Soon after a diagonal pass by Pringle found Richard Brindley who cut in from the left but fired over the bar.
