Millers combat winter blast with Enviro Thaw

28 January 2015

With winter comes more freezing weather across South Yorkshire, but Rotherham United continue to do their utmost in keeping the AESSEAL New York Stadium clear for supporters and visitors.

To help do this, the Millers have continued to use local company Enviro Thaw who have been in business with the Millers since their move into the stadium, and provide their revolutionary product that not only prevents freezing, but doesn’t damage carpets or materials like orthodox rock salt.

“I first came across Tony Stewart a few years ago when we won an award for the innovation of the product, and from there we’ve gone on to work alongside Rotherham and our branding can be seen in the matchday programme and with one of the business plaques on the corner of the stadium,” said Karina Oldale from Enviro Thaw.

“We’re an environmentally friendly granular de-icer company that provide Rotherham United with our granular product to keep the stadium and surrounding areas clear of ice. Through our partnership with Rotherham United we are now dealing with other football clubs and hope to be with every Football League club in the near future all thanks to starting with Rotherham United.”

Supporters who have frequented the AESSEAL New York Stadium during the recent cold snap may have had their heads turned by the sea of blue grit on the footpaths and car parks, and the product has a number of advantages over the traditional methods, including being 90% less corrosive to the road and environment. It’s even suitable for use on bridges and walkways where metal components are used, unlike standard Sodium Chloride.

“It’s blue pellets that mean if you walk it into offices or surrounding rooms it won’t damage anything in there and if children feel the urge to pick it up and eat it, whilst we don’t advise it, it’s not damaging to them either.”
