A background on new Millers signing Jack Barmby...

A striker with a family footballing pedigree, Jack Barmby joined the Millers on loan from Premier League outfit Leicester City.

The 20-year-old is the son of former Tottenham, Everton, Liverpool and England striker Nicky, and began his career in the youth ranks at Manchester United.

After making his way through the ranks at Old Trafford he fell just short of first-team honours, deciding to make the switch to Leicester in the summer of 2014.

Barmby started to build a reputation as a prolific scorer at youth team level and this alerted England with the Harlow-born marksman representing his country at under 16, 18 and 19 levels.

The striker does have experience in the Football League after a loan spell with Hartlepool United during the 2013/14 season where he bagged five goals in 17 appearances.

He signed a two-year deal with Nigel Pearson’s Leicester in the summer and can also play in a wide position.
