Gaffer disappointed after positive performance...

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans praised his side’s performance but was left ruing the saves of David Button as the Millers slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Brentford.

After a fine first-half display the Millers conceded midway in the second period and would have levelled but for a fine save by former Tottenham stopper Button.

“It’s tough to take isn’t it, playing like we did today and then coming away with nothing. We should have been 3-0 up at half-time really but nothing changes, if you don’t take your chances you don’t win get points. They get a bit of fortune in the goal but he’s turned and hit it and it’s a good strike into the corner. Then we have to go gung ho where it’s you attack, we attack, and we’re denied by the save of the season as Green meets a cross.”

Evans gave debuts to three players, who made up the majority of the attacking play and the Millers boss was pleased with their impact.

“I thought the three new lads who came in were good. We expected them to get tired because they’ve not had a lot of football but their fitness levels are good, it’s their sharpness that’s not there. We’ll work with them and they’ll be fine next week and I don’t think a supporter will leave here and say other than Evans has made some good signings.”
