Gaffer’s Transfer Round Up

9 January 2015

Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Millers boss Steve Evans gave his reaction to the latest incomings and outgoings at the AESSEAL New York Stadium after a busy day in the transfer market.

The Millers boss spoke to the official website as the team travel to Brentford for tomorrow’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at Griffin Park.

How crucial was getting Adam Hammill to the club?

“I am really excited with Adam Hammill, a player I have admired for some time. He is very quick, naturally two footed and as well as being very creative he can also score a goal. This lad was my first January transfer target and he is a Miller. Adam will excite our supporters, in training this morning he was outstanding.”

Can we expect more players before the end of the transfer window?

“Our recruitment this January transfer window will be measured and will fit in with a similar strategy to that of my last four seasons as a manager, of which the result was four consecutive promotions. Whilst this is not a target this season I have no doubt our points return from now until the end of the season will demonstrate once again our success in what is a very difficult league.”

Will more players be going out?

“As for players going out, in the main it will be lads who will not play a part. Alex (Revell) has gone and in return Rotherham United get a good transfer fee for a player who would have been out of contract, and made it clear he would not now extend his contract. Ben Pringle turned down a move; he is also out of contract, taking that further is the decision for my board of directors but in the meantime Ben gets on with his football.”

Are you close to finalising your squad for the crucial run-in?

“Our squad is taking shape very nicely. We have added selectively and we are far from finished in this transfer window but that is the quality of player not quantity. We are focused, determined, passionate about what we are working on. We will sign players then talk about them, there will be no other way going forward.”
