Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans was thrilled to add Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt after completing formalities on a deal today.

The former Huddersfield Town full-back signed on an emergency loan until the end of the season and joined up with his new teammates at the club training ground at Parkgate this morning.

Boss Evans swooped for the 24-year-old after a successful loan stint with Nottingham Forest ended at the start of this month, and he joins fellow Palace loanee Zeki Fryers in the Millers ranks.

“I am absolutely buzzing with the signing of this very talented player,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“It has taken a number of weeks for us to get young Jack to Rotherham United FC but all the hard work, tenacity and application to make the lad a Miller has proved on this occasion to be successful.”

Beginning his career with Huddersfield, Hunt quickly made a name for himself as one of the brightest prospects outside the top flight, and that’s when Evans become an admirer of the Rothwell-born operator.

“He is a player who first came to my attention when he was absolutely outstanding at Huddersfield Town, where his form earned himself a multi-million pound move to Crystal Palace,” added Evans.

“His performances whilst on loan earlier this season at Nottingham Forest can only be described as outstanding.

“I was given permission to speak with the player and in those talks with Jack I witnessed a hunger to play football, to be part of something meaningful and at that stage I asked my Chairman Tony Stewart if we could sanction bringing the player to the AESSEAL New York Stadium, which the Chairman duly sanctioned.”
