The Millers are victorious...

Rotherham United’s Academy beat Notts County after convincing display earned a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Garreth Barker’s side earned their first victory of 2015 after a brace from captain Alex Wiles and a further goal from striker Jerry Yates.

“It was a great result against a Notts County side who are doing well in the league,” said Barker.

“The lads were excellent throughout with the first couple of goals arriving through a combination of hard work, pressing and good organisation. We also capitalised on a couple of errors by Notts County but the errors were created by good pressure by ourselves.

“Notts County changed the way they played in the second half and the lads came under some intense pressure but Alex (Wiles) grabbed his second and our third and we started to exert more pressure.

“Jerry (Yates) then missed an open net which was an uncharacteristic and then Mason Warren also went close so we could have won by a bigger margin.”

Team: Denton; Gibson, Hallatt, Peace-McDonald, Smalley, Bailey-King (Norfolk 85), Wiles, Dickinson, Warren (Muskwe 70), Yates (Fenton 85), Johnson.

Subs not used: Bilboe, Shelley.
