Rotherham United Community Sports Trust require apprentice sports coaches to assist our sports development team in the delivering our community and physical activity initiatives across Rotherham. If you are ages 16 – 18years old and have a desire to work in the sports industry then kick off your career with the Education Academy in an award winning Community Sports Trust.

Sports development officers aim to provide opportunities for participation in sport for all sections of the community. They distribute information and organise sport-related projects, classes, programmes, coaching, club development and training for those who want to participate for fun and those who are interested in competing at all levels, from local to national and international. The central aim is to increase participation in sport of all kinds, but sports development officers also address issues of health, crime and social inclusion, often working with organisations such as the schools, charities, sport, national governing bodies (NGBs) and regeneration initiatives. They work in partnership with government bodies to deliver government sports initiatives
This apprenticeship is an essential part of everyday life in a sports organisation and provides a key role in the delivery and development of sport, physical activity and PE.

Main roles:

1. To provide leadership assistants in Sport and Active Leisure
2. Facilitate Community Based Sport
3. Manage own resources and professional development
4. Increase Participation in Sport
5. Contribute to strategic development in Sport and Active Leisure
6. Plan and organise services
7. Assist in the delivery of coaching sessions
8. Help with day to day duties in the office
9. To complete the necessary work set through studying the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Activity Leadership
Training to be provided;
The Advanced Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership (Level 2) comprises of:
1. Competence Based Element - Level 2 NVQ in Activity Leadership
2. Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if you do not have GCSE grade C or above)
3. Employee Rights and Responsibilities
4. Technical Certificate – Knowledge and practical based training

Skills required;

As an apprentice sports coach you will have the willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty when required which may require you to attend all home fixtures and the occasional Sunday. As a member of staff you will gain a full RUFC tracksuit along with complementary match tickets.

Ideally you will also;
Have previous experience of sports coaching
Have previous experience of working with children

Qualifications required:

A minimum of L1 in sports coaching orr willingness to complete, along with a relevant sports course(Level 1). A minimum GCSE grade C in English and Maths is desirable but not essential as you will be required to complete a Functional Skills at Level 2)

Working Week:
30 Hours per Week Mon-Sun

Salary / Weekly Wage:
£80.40
