This week's Final Third Development League action featured four hat-tricks as Gillingham, MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon recorded big wins.

Final Third Development League - West Division

Wigan Athletic maintained their lead at the top of the Final Third Development League West Division after a 2-0 victory over Morecambe.

A Ryan Jennings first-half brace sealed the points for the Latics, as the 18-year-old netted his third goal in his last two appearances.

Port Vale kept the pressure on Wigan in second place with a comprehensive 3-1 win  over Wrexham at Colliers Park.

Second-half goals from Greg Luer, Luke Lewis and Ryan McGivern saw the Valiants past the Welshmen. Walsall moved up to third place with a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town.

Reece Flanagan broke the deadlock for the Saddlers inside 10 minutes, before Ethan Jones' close-range finish drew the score level.

But it was Walsall who stole the points five minutes from time when Shrews midfielder Joe Kenton headed into his own net.

Final Third Development League - South Division

Gillingham powered to their second Final Third Development League South Division win of the season by thumping Peterborough United 6-0 at Beechings.

Luke Norris bagged a hat-trick and Greg Cundle, Antonio German and Brennan Dickenson were also on target.

AFC Wimbledon also won convincingly to jump into second place with a 4-1 triumph over Portsmouth.

David Fitzpatrick scored a hat-trick and Tom Beere made it four for the Dons, as Calvin Davies grabbed Pompey a consolation in a game that saw Wes Fogden complete 60 minutes on his continuing comeback from injury.

Final Third Development League - East Division

Hull City extended their lead at the top of the Final Third Development League East Division as Rotherham United, Scunthorpe United and Doncaster Rovers all dropped points.

The Tigers eased past Hartlepool United thanks to a second Jonathon Margetts treble in as many games, while Nicky Featherstone scored for Pools against his former club.

Gateshead were comfortable 4-0 winners against Scunthorpe, as Jon Shaw also landed a hat-trick which helped his side up to sixth in the table. Tom Allan completed the rout for the Heed.

Rotherham failed to convert a two-goal lead into a win as they had settled for a point against Doncaster.

Jerry  Yates  and  Jonson  Clarke-Harris  put  the  Millers  on  the  front  foot,  before  Matthew  Davis  and  Billy Whitehouse levelled things up for Rovers.

Final Third Development League Cup - South Group A

MK  Dons  rounded  off  their  Final  Third  Development  League  Cup  group  stage  commitments  with  an entertaining 3-2 victory over Luton Town.

A  Kabongo  Tshimanga  double  and  a  late  Ben  Tilney  strike  saw  Dons  come  from  behind  after  Charlie Walker and Alex Wall had put Luton ahead.
