The Reserves slip to defeat...

Rotherham United Reserves slipped to a 4-1 defeat to Doncaster Rovers in the Final Third Development League at Cantley Park.

The Millers continued with their policy of fielding Academy scholars and young professionals for reserve team fixtures, and it was another learning experience for the youngsters against an experienced Doncaster side.

Adam Johnson was on target for the Millers but two goals from Harry Forrester and further strikes from Liam Mandeville and Luke McCullough sealed a comfortable victory for the hosts.

Doncaster took the lead inside 10 minutes when Forrester converted after Cameron Stewart’s cross was flicked on by Mandeville.

Doncaster hit the frame of the goal twice before the Millers showed great character to level. Kuda Muskwe celebrated his two-year professional deal by sending cross into the area for Johnson who looped his header over the ‘keeper into the net.

Doncaster regained the lead before the break when Forrester tapped home after Curtis Main’s shot was parried by Laurence Bilboe.

The Millers could have been level after the break but Muskwe hit a post after expertly rounding ‘keeper Marko Marosi.

Doncaster took control and when Main’s drive was parried this time it was Mandeville on hand to convert.

The game was sealed when Paul Keegan’s free-kick was headed in by McCullough.
