Introduction to Sports Coaching

Enrol onto the Introduction to Sports coaching with the Rotherham United Education Academy and kick off your career!

Course content:
The course is specifically designed for any young person aged 16 – 18 who is currently not in education, employment or training. The course will introduce the basics of sports leadership by our highly qualified sports staff. There will be a variation of learning modules completed through non accredited learning exercise, nutrition and the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.  Learners will complete the level 1 award in sports leadership which will act as the coaching foundations for any aspiring young sports coach. Successful candidates will have the chance to also develop their coaching and leadership skills through volunteering by assisting our community lead coaches within the community.

Entry requirements:
No formal qualifications required but you are required to have a passion for sport, an enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills and determination to complete the program

There are no formal assessment but you will be observed organising, planning and delivering sport / activity sessions

Future opportunities:
Our course will open a wide variety of opportunities within further education or employment within the sport and leisure industry. For the learners who wish to do so there are number of stepping stones through the levels here at the Education Academy. For example you may progress onto our apprenticeship programs or onto our Btec level 2 and 3 dependent on GCSE grades.
