Rotherham United’s Dave Fellowes has been announced as the winner of the Sky Bet Championship’s Groundsman of the Year Award for the 2014/15 season.
Dave has devoted countless hours to keeping the greenery at the Millers’ home in immaculate condition alongside assistant David Burton and has been highly commended over the last two years.
The Millers’ duo receive the honour having kept the pitch at AESSEAL New York Stadium in pristine condition for the club’s first season in the second tier.
Recognition from visiting management and officials saw the Millers nominated for the award before it was announced that they had prevailed as winners on Thursday afternoon.
Following the announcement, Dave downed his pitchfork to give www.themillers.co.uk his immediate reaction:
“I am delighted to be able to accept this award and it makes it even better now that we’re in the Championship,” he enthused.
“It came as a bit of a surprise to be honest because there are some big clubs in this division with some great pitches.
“I’d like to thank everyone that has been involved in maintaining the pitch this season, particularly my assistant David Burton who has worked around the clock to help make the playing surface what it is.”
Rotherham United would like to congratulate Dave and David on winning the award and thank them for their commitment to maintaining a wonderful playing surface at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
