The new year 12 RUCST Futsal squad got their first taste of competitive futsal on Wednesday at the annual Football League Futsal Festival.
All the 18 lads played their part for the 3 teams that we entered and both Futsal Coordinator Andy Warrington and Coach Alex Nightingale were extremely impressed with the levels of performances by the lads.Alex said, “ The quality of futsal, commitment and application from this group of players who have only just come together in the last week has been unbelievable, with one of the teams finishing top of the table against the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Middlesboro, Sheffield Wednesday and United, Mansfield and Carlisle United.”
Congratulation to Brandon Bagley who topped the scoring charts with 8 goals followed by Lewis Clarke with 6, but it was the all-round performances which pleased Andy the most.
Andy added, “It’s going to be a very enjoyable season. The lads should be looking forward to now and not to forget our 4 girls Beccy, Jess, Alex and Chelsea who will be playing in the girls’ only festival the following day, good luck.”
