What is it like at the Macron Stadium?

The recently renamed Macron Stadium was built in 1997 as the Reebok Stadium and has a striking, unique appearance from the outside that allows it to stand out from the majority of new builds in the country. The inside is functional and tidy, is totally enclosed and each stand has a conventional rectangular lower tier, with a semi circular upper tier above. There is large video screen in one corner, situated between the South and Nat Lofthouse Stands. One unusual feature of the ground is that the teams emerge from separate tunnels on either side of the halfway line.

Where will we be sat?

The Millers fans will be housed in the top tier of the South Stand behind one of the goals. The Lower tier is also made available to away supporters if required, but this is shared with home supporters. The concourse facilities are very good and make gaining refreshments easy.

Where can I eat and drink?

The main pub for away fans is the Beehive, which is about a 10-15 minute walk away from the away turnstiles and is a good sized pub that also serves food. The Barnstormers pub is a little further away but also admits away fans. Inside the ground, a number of alcoholic beverages are available and they can be pre-paid before the game to be ready at the interval.

In terms of food, the stadium is located on the Middlebrook Retail Park and provides a number of options for supporters. In close proximity you will find a Subway, McDonalds, KFC, Nandos and a number of others.

Where can I park and what's the postcode for my sat nav?

Car parking is available at the ground on a first come first serve basis at a price of £7 but this is not recommended if you are looking for a quick getaway after the match. There is also plenty of parking available in nearby industrial estates for between £4-£5, as well as at the Beehive Pub.

The postcode for the Macron Stadium is BL6 6JW.

Can I get there on the train?

Horwich Parkway station is about 200 metres from the Macron Stadium and can be reached from Rotherham Central in just over 2 hours. However, with this being an evening game, it may be best to seek an alternative method of transport because the last train departs Horwich at 21:28 and you would likely miss the end of the match.

Can I get there by coach?

The supporters club will be running coaches to Bolton priced at £10.

Will I recognise anyone there?

Young striker Tom Eaves is the only player currently on the books of Bolton Wanderers to have turned out for the Millers. He had a loan spell last season and scored just once in nine appearances before being recalled. Eaves has yet to feature this season for Bolton however, so it is unlikely he will be seen on the pitch.

In the stands, boxer Amir Khan and TV presenter's Vernon Kaye and Paddy McGuinness are all known to be Bolton fans.

Have we been before?

This is the first ever visit to the Macron Stadium for the majority of Millers supporters, as the two teams have not met competitively since 1993.

What shirt should I wear?

The Millers will be wearing their home red kit for this game.
