Gaffer looking ahead to tough encounters...

Rotherham United enjoy the relief of an international break this weekend, and Manager Steve Evans is using it to prepare for a tough run of games ahead.

Following their break, the Millers are back in action with a tough trip to Bournemouth before a run of seven straight games against former Premier League teams including a televised Yorkshire derby against Leeds United.

“It’s fantastic isn’t it,” Evans told Millers Player. “Everyone looks forward to this team. I said it when Kieran Agard had an opportunity to go there, and whilst they may not be where they should be as a football club, you’re guaranteed absolutely wild support, wild traditions and history, and it’s only a matter of time before they come back, so it will be a great night for the supporters and for the cameras to be here under the floodlights.”

As well as Leeds, the Millers welcome Blackburn Rovers and Charlton Athletic to New York Stadium, whilst recently-relegated Fulham end the seven-game series of thrilling encounters.

“With Blackburn and Charlton you’ve got two former Premier League teams, with one former Champions and the others who parted company with a manager because they were tired of being ‘average’ in the Premier League, so that’s the challenge we face soon.”

Before that the Millers are on the road with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth the opposition next Saturday, followed quickly by a tough trip to Bolton.

“First of all though is Bournemouth who are an excellent team with a brilliant squad of players, and with them and Bolton away it’s as tough as it gets. If we come away from there with a few more points on our tally going into the home matches I’ll be pleased, but it shows just how far we’ve come quickly as a football club.”

Tickets for the game against Leeds United are now on sale, and can be purchased online or in the Red & Shop.
