Gaffer pleased with second-half performance...

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans has praised his side after they claimed a point in their Sky Bet Championship clash with Charlton Athletic this afternoon.

Luciano Becchio rose at the far post to level things up for the Millers who had fallen behind in the first half as the Millers made it two 1-1 draws in as many Saturdays. And Evans was pleased with the majority of the performance from his players.

“I think we started quite brightly until they scored a goal, but up until then it was probably the first time they’ve been in our box. We’ve lost our way a little bit after the goal but then the second-half is an absolute annihilation of Charlton Athletic.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic with that second-half performance. They’re a good team Charlton with some good players who they’ve spent a lot of money on but we’ve torn them to shreds in the second-half. We’ll get back on the training ground and now prepare for next week.

Lee Frecklington was introduced at half-time for the Millers who trailed at the break, and the midfielder wasn’t far away from coming back into the starting XI.

“We played with an energy that we’re used to. We played with a passion and a system that meant I’d rather lose 3-0 than just rollover. Lee’s not been quite fit after a little calf strain and after coming through the reserve game in midweek he was touch and go to start today.”
