Sky Bet Championship Betting Preview

The weekend’s Sky Bet Championship action starts at Bloomfield Road on Friday night when bottom-of-the-pile Blackpool look for their first win of the campaign at home to Cardiff City.

The promotion-hopeful Bluebirds are 23/20 favourites to claim all three points in front of the Sky cameras, with Jose Riga’s Seasiders 12/5 and the draw priced up at 23/10.

Saturday’s 1215 BST kick-off sees Leeds United play host to Sheffield Wednesday in a Yorkshire derby, with the Owls marginal favourites at 7/5 compared to Leeds at 19/10.

Norwich City are the early pace-setters on goal difference and are at 8/15 but the Millers look a good price at 5/1 after claiming their third victory of the season when beating Blackburn in midweek.

Rovers themselves host Huddersfield Town and are 10/11 to see off the Terriers at Ewood Park, with the draw 13/5 and an away win available at 14/5.

Nottingham Forest and Watford are alongside Norwich at the top of the table on 20 points and the Hornets are 7/5 chances to beat Brighton, who are 19/10 to claim victory at Vicarage Road on the back of a 1-1 draw with Cardiff.

Forest have to wait until Sunday when they face Ipswich Town at the City Ground.
Stuart Pearce’s side are even-money for the win, with the Tractor Boys 11/4 and the draw priced at 12/5.

A resurgent Fulham look to complete a hat-trick of wins on Saturday and are 18/5 to do just that at Middlesbrough, who are the 3/4 favourites despite being frustrated by Blackpool in midweek.

Bolton Wanderers were Fulham’s most recent victims on Wednesday night and Dougie Freedman’s Trotters can be backed at 23/10 to bounce back from three straight defeats with a win against Bournemouth (23/20).

Steve McClaren’s Derby County left it late to beat the Poppies on Wednesday but are seemingly getting up to full speed and they are 8/15 to get the better of Ian Holloway’s Millwall (5/1).

Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken to life in the Championship in good style and could be in the play-off places with a home win over Wigan Athletic.

Kenny Jackett’s Wolves are even-money favourites to record their fifth home win of the season, with Wigan 11/4 and the draw 12/5.

Charlton currently occupy one of the play-off spots and are 21/20 to enhance their solid start to the season with a win at home to Birmingham (5/2).

Brentford and Reading are sitting in mid-table and they meet at Griffin Park on Saturday.
Reading drew at Leeds on Wednesday night and that outcome can be backed at 12/5 here, with the home win 5/4 and a Reading victory 21/10.

Sky Bet’s top tips:

Wolves to beat Wigan by exactly one goal at 11/4
Newly-promoted Wolves have recorded three 1-0 home wins in the league this season and can add to that tally against Wigan.

Derby to beat Millwall and both teams to score at 21/10
Millwall have found the net despite losing in their last two and are fancied to snatch another goal at the iProStadium.

Charlton to draw with Birmingham at 12/5
The Latics have drawn their last two games at home and there could be more frustration in store against the Blues, who will be buoyed by their midweek win at Millwall.
