Several players available for selection this Friday...
The players and staff reported back this Monday morning as the preparations begin for the big Yorkshire derby with Leeds United at New York stadium on Friday evening. The match will be shown live around the world courtesy of Sky Sports and Manager Steve Evans has taken the time to update us on the injury front given the injury sustained by Luciano Becchio late last week.
Luciano Becchio: "Regretfully the player will be out injured for at least six weeks with a fractured heel. The player picked up this injury in a behind closed door match, at a point when no player was near him and he twisted to make a run in the opposite direction. The player was x- rayed straight after the match which showed no damage but a further scan on Friday morning diagnosed the hairline fracture. Our dialogue with Norwich City in relation to the player will continue to ensure we get the player back playing at the earliest opportunity."
Kirk Broadfoot: "The lad came off against Blackburn Rovers with a twisted ankle. His recovery has been excellent and he is expected to be available for selection against Leeds United on Friday."
Richard Brindley: "Richard felt his hamstring in our match with Norwich City and had to be substituted. He is making a steady recovery."
Rob Milsom: "He is back in full training and came through a closed door match with no after affects, he is now fit for selection."
Richard Wood: "The big fella is making a good recovery from a minor knee injury, he will be available for selection very shortly, maybe even Friday."
Conor Newton: "Following a hernia operation the lad is almost back available, perhaps another week and he will be with us. He is a talented lad and we look forward to seeing him available."
Evans also added: " The treatment room has been a busy place in the last two weeks but in fairness it has been since the start of the season. We have had no luck with player availability but at no time have or will we use it as an excuse.
"On the whole we are in good shape as we look forward to two very exciting home Championship matches, namely, Leeds United and Fulham. With no disrespect to clubs in League Two, the matches we have coming up are so exciting for everyone. We face a giant of a club in Leeds United and a Fulham team who last season played in The Premier League".
