Foundation Degree Kicks Off

7 October 2014

This September, the Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development began the partnership with the University of South Wales and the Football League Trust.

The course is an exciting addition to the Rotherham United Community Sports Trust Education Academy. We currently have three learners Dominic, Hasan and Jamie within the programme who are looking forward to start their journey into Higher Education. The course offers a great chance for young aspiring coaches to develop key experience within a football club environment along with gaining a great qualification. The course is initially for a two year period where they will gain a Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development with a third year option to top-up to a BA (Hons).

Along with gaining experience and a degree the learners will also have the chance to gain their Level 2 and UEFA B coaching licenses, which will help to develop their coaching CV.

The learners spent two days on their induction for the course along with 135 other students from other football league clubs. This is a brand new course and one in which we hope to grow and develop over the next year, when we look to start another group next September.

We are looking forward to the challenge and helping to provide the community with the next young generation of coaches and future sports staff.
