Luton Town continued their unbeaten start in the Final Third Development League with a 4-1 victory over Cambridge, while Hull City overcame table-toppers Scunthorpe United.

Final Third Development League – East Division

Hull  City  moved  to  within  a  point  of  Scunthorpe  United  in  the  Final  Third  Development  League  East Division after recording a 2-1 victory over the Iron at North Ferriby on Tuesday evening.
The Tigers went ahead the 36th minute after Eoghan McCawl connected with a Leon Dawson cross, and they doubled their advantage from the restart as Karim Rossi converted a header from close range.

Scunthorpe pulled a goal back seven minutes from time, but Hull held on to close the gap on the leaders to a single point.Rotherham  United,  fresh  off  the  back  of  their  8-0  defeat  of  Mansfield  in  the  Final  Third  Development
League Cup last week, continued their strong run of form with a 2-0 win over Burton Albion.

Goals from Matt Derbyshire and Mitch Rose either side of half-time were enough to see the Millers move up to second in the table.

Elsewhere,  Gateshead  secured  their  first  league  win  of  the  season  after  first-half  goals  from  Tom Heardman and Jon Shaw helped them beat Hartlepool United.

The visitors responded through a Dan Jones header with around half an hour to play, but the Heed held on to record a 2-1 victory and notch their first points of the campaign.

Final Third Development League – South Division

Luton  Town  extended  their  lead  at  the  top  of  the  South  Division  with  a  dominant  4-1  win  over  secondplaced Cambridge United.

Shaun  Whalley  netted  on  the  stroke  of  half  time,  before  adding  his  second  shortly  after  the  restart.

Cambridge looked to be staging a spirited comeback when they halved the deficit, but further goals for the Hatters from Luke Rooney and Charlie Walker ensured it was merely a consolation.
