Rotherham United were the big winners in the Final Third Development League Cup this week, beating Mansfield Town 8-0, while Port Vale picked up a League victory at Shrewsbury Town.

Final Third Development League Cup - Northern Group B

Rotherham United cruised to an 8-0 victory against Mansfield Town at Rainworth on Tuesday evening.

The visiting Millers were 5-0 up inside half an hour with Jordan Bowery scoring twice, alongside strikes from Matt Derbyshire, Conor Newton and Nicky Walker.
The latter two players grabbed one more apiece in the second half, while midfielder Mitch Rose netted the other, to round off a dominant display.

Final Third Development League Cup - Northern Group C

Middlesbrough made it three wins from three in the Final Third Development League Cup by beating Hartlepool United 2-1.

The North Group C table-toppers went 2-0 in front thanks to goals from Emmanuel Ledesma and Ryan Brobbel and, although Tom Mitchinson pulled one back for Pools, they couldn't mount a fightback against their North East rivals.

Final Third Development League Cup - Northern Group D

Morecambe moved up to second in Group D - North of the Final Third Development League after a convincing 3-0 victory against Tranmere Rovers at Rivacre Park.

Both sides featured several first-team players but it was the Shrimps who came out on top, with goals from Tom Barkhuizen, Alan Goodall and youngster Jack Kelleher.

Final Third Development League - West Division

Achille Campion netted a fine hat-trick for Port Vale as they overcame Shrewsbury Town 3-1 in the only League game of the week.

It was the Shrews who went in front, on 31 minutes, through Scott Vernon, but Campion then turned on the style for the Valiants to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season in the West Division.

The 23-year-old Frenchman netted his first just before the break after Jordan Slew's shot was parried, and bagged his second just after the interval, converting a Byron Moore cross from eight yards. He completed his hat-trick by curling a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner, past Shrews stopper Callum Burton.
