Thirteen spectacular strikes form the shortlist for League Football Education’s (LFE) Goal of the Month competition for October. 

Alex Pattison collected the award last month for his lung busting run and fine finish for Middlesbrough against Manchester United’s Under-18’s. 

Rotherham United's Mason Warren is in the running for his David Beckham-esque strike against Chesterfield along with Brighton & Hove Albion's duo Jordan Maguire-Drew and Connor Tighe who have a goal each nominated.

MK Dons and England Youth International Giorgio Rasulo (a winner from last term) is also in the mix, as is, for the second month running, Charles Vernam, a former AC Milan trialist who now calls Derby County’s, Moor Farm training base, home. 

This month’s shortlist is:

•         Lewis Gill, PORTSMOUTH v Newport County
•         Scott Merritt, Oxford United v EXETER CITY
•         Zain Westbrooke, Cardiff City v BRENTFORD
•         Louis Robles, WIGAN ATHLETIC v Blackpool
•         Charles Vernam, DERBY COUNTY v Middlesbrough

LFE Chief Executive Alan Sykes said: “This competition draws attention to the next wave of talented young players that are on the apprenticeship programme at clubs across the land.”

“It remains hugely popular and features some exceptional goals.”

Voting will remain open until Noon on 21 November.
