Rotherham United’s Academy fell to a 3-1 defeat against Lincoln City.
Academy Manager Garreth Barker was forced into a number of changes due to crippling injury list which saw two 15-year-old scholars benefit from some experience at under 18 level as Barker explained.
“We are so ravaged by injuries at the moment resulting in a couple of players playing unfamiliar positions and two 15-year-olds in the side,” he said.
“The positive is that young Jack Osborne and Keelan Wilson got some game time for the under 18s, two lads who are making good progress with us.”
First year scholar Kuda Muskwe continued his recent good form in front of goal netting again for the Millers.
“The goal came from Kuda Muskwe who is starting to find the net for us, that was his second in three games,” confirmed Barker.
“In the build up to the goal there was some great individual play from Andy Norfolk on the left. Andy did try and claim the goal but video evidence suggested it hadn’t crossed the line, but it was fantastic play from him, he was excellent on the day.
“Kuda did the basics well; he followed up the ball and got his reward.
“Overall there wasn’t much between the sides and some missed chances ended up costing us. The main thing is the lads learn from the mistakes.”
