Role of the fans 'massive', says skipper

Craig Morgan talks to Millers Player...

Rotherham United Captain Craig Morgan says the support from the fans will be crucial ahead of today’s crunch play-off showdown with Preston North End.

The Welshman is set to lead the Millers out at Deepdale for the first leg tonight as Steve Evans’ side embark on their play-off campaign looking to make it back-to-back promotions.

With 2,000 fans making the journey across the Pennines, Morgan admits that the support the players receive could make the difference in what is expected to be a tight affair.

“The fans’ role is going to be massive,” said the Millers skipper.

“We’ll need them to get behind the lads because they can help us through.

“They have done that all season, we just need them to keep behind us all the way through the play-offs now and hopefully on into the final.”

The double-header with Simon Grayson’s side means that the Wales International will be lining-up against his former employers, with Morgan wearing the Preston jersey between 2010 and 2012, and he knows it will be tough but it is a task the players are all relishing.

“All the lads are massively looking forward to the game; it is something that everyone wants to be involved in,” added the 28-year-old.

“They are a good outfit but between the two teams this year nobody has come out on top so it looks like it is set for a great game.”
