Rotherham United manager Steve Evans showed pure elation at full-time as the Millers overcame Preston North End to book their place in the League One Play-Off final at Wembley.

“It’s chaos around us,” said an emotional Millers boss as he wiped away a tear. “The players are overjoyed, we’re overjoyed for the supporters and for the Chairman, for Tony and Richard Stewart. I’m starting to go now. I told my two girls when I left them this morning I’ll come back and take you to Wembley. They never text me on a matchday but they’ve been speaking to me all day.”

The Millers boss who has celebrated three successive promotions prior to this season says the current campaign tops them all, but they won’t be taking anything for granted just yet.

“I think I said I’ve had some memorable cup runs and promotions, but this tops it. We were the better side. The goal they get tonight is fortuiotous. I’ve spoken about this team having character and spirit and to a man they all showed that tonight. We go to play a Leyton Orient who are first class and who topped the table for a long spell but for now we’ll let the players have a couple of days down time ahead of a long week next week.”
