Social Prescription Stadium Day

27 March 2014

Sponsored by

On Wednesday 19th March, the three Community Social Prescription groups got together for a stadium day at New York Stadium.

Participants had the choice of a morning session from 10:00am – 1:00pm or an afternoon session from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. During the sessions the participants played bingo and cards, took part in a group quiz as well as some seated exercise using thera bands.

For lunch the participants tucked into meat and potato pie with chips and mushy peas, with fruit for dessert. Participants also got the opportunity to have a stadium tour and they commented on what a great facility New York Stadium is.

Ryan Canadine, Health Coach said “The day went really well and it was nice to see participants from the different community sessions be reunited and have a good catch up amongst each other.”

Community sessions are still ongoing with 3 sessions taking place every week at three different venues; one at Swinton, one at Dinnington and one at Eastwood.

This is a referral service only and unfortunately people are unable to be accepted into the groups by ringing up the Trust. Referrals must come through participants’ Doctors and the Social Prescribing team at Voluntary Action Rotherham.
