Gaffer delighted with display...
Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans was pleased with his side’s 2-0 victory at Oldham Athletic, stretching their unbeaten stretch to 11 games.
Lee Frecklington scored a wondergoal in the second period to seal the game after Mark Bradley had put the Millers ahead in the first-half with his second goal of the season.
“It was a comfortable win in the end, although we’ve been talking afterwards and I think we needed the second goal,” Evans said after the game. “After half an hour we could have been three or four up but at half-time we told them to stay on the front foot, stay professional and keep passing it because some of our passing was magnificent just like the goal from Lee Frecklington, which if that’s on Match of the Day, they’re playing it over and over again.
“Coming into this game it was always going to be tough and it was neck and neck between this team and Preston last weekend and we knew it would be tough but we’ve gone about it with a very professional application.
It could have been even more for the Millers who saw chance after chance go begging with Kieran Agard missing out on his 18th of the season just before the break.
“Kieran’s an honest lad and he came in at half-time and said it’s gone straight through his legs when he should have tapped it in, but it wasn’t just him, Arnason should have hit the target with two headers and Revell hit the post and had one off the line.”
