Rotherham United Girls football trials

10 June 2014

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust has created a female only section to the football Club.

Titled Rotherham United WGFC, the club now works in partnership with Rotherham United Ladies and Brinsworth Whitehill to offer teams at under 12’s, under 14’s, under 15’s and under 16’s. We are recruiting NOW for players for the 2014/15 season.

The girls’ open football trials will be taking place at the Phoenix at 6pm every Thursday starting from the 5th June. The training will finish at approximately 7:30pm.

Jamie Noble, Head of Community would like to urge all girls to get involved, he commented “With the recent success of our men’s first team and the hard work of the youth set up, this club is really going places and we want the women and girls of Rotherham to be a part of this. We know there are some really talented women and girls out there who play for neighbouring clubs, but we want Rotherham people to play for Rotherham United, that is the philosophy in both the Youth Teams and the Community Teams.  It’s a great time to be a Miller and we have ambitions as a football club at been the best in every competition we are involved in from grassroots to the Championship.”

Lee Cardwell, Brinsworth Whitehill said “The Community Trust has really helped us with recruitment for the teams, we are only a few players off getting some really good squads together and with one or two additions we will be very competitive this season. It doesn’t matter at what level you have played in the past, we welcome all players to come and have a go and what’s better than representing Rotherham United week in week out.”

There may be the odd Thursday when Rotherham United WGFC don’t train due to work commitments etc. However they will update their status on Facebook if training is cancelled, here is the link to the Facebook page:

So if you have what it takes to make it onto the team then come on down and don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity!

Jamie added “June is the time when you can look for new clubs, so give Lee a call and come down to phoenix to get some coaching from RUFC coaches and we hope to see more girls getting involved in football and playing for the Millers.”
