Raynor happy with off-season work...

Assistant Manager Paul Raynor is pleased with the pre-season preparations so far, as the Millers continue to add to their squad ahead of the return to the Championship.

Five new faces have come through the door at New York Stadium so far and with less than two weeks to go until they meet their new teammates in training, Raynor believes that forward planning ahead of the play-offs is the reason they’ve been able to make the additions so early.

“The timescales with our late, albeit fantastic finish to the season meant we had to make a lot of preparations beforehand and we don’t have long now until pre-season kicks in late in June to get things organised, it’s all going well though and all going to plan so far,” Raynor told www.themillers.co.uk

“Like the Gaffer has said the signings wouldn’t have been too different whether it was League One or the Championship; obviously there may have been one or two who weren’t possible but the targets were still the same and he’s done some fantastic work behind the scenes encouraging these players to come and join us and it’s a very exciting period that has got the whole town buzzing.”

It has been a whirlwind couple of months at New York with promotion clinched in the play-off final at Wembley, the 2014/15 fixture release imminent and the new campaign just weeks away; Raynor who, along with Manager Steve Evans has been in South Yorkshire for over two years now is enjoying his time in the town.

“Everywhere you go people are talking about the teams we’re going to be playing, the grounds we’ll be visiting and the end of last season. It’s just a very good time to be involved with Rotherham United, and something I’m proud of.”
