The background on the Millers record signing...

After beginning his career just down the road at Chesterfield, Jordan Bowery joins the Millers after two years as a Premier League player.

Averaging just under a goal every three starts in the league whilst at the Proact Stadium, he was subject of a £500,000 move to Aston Villa, just days after hitting his final Spireites goal in an impressive performance against Rotherham United.

In treacherous conditions in North Derbyshire he gave the Millers backline a torrid time before putting Chesterfield in front during the first-half with a predatory close-range goal from Drew Talbot’s low cross.

His debut in the claret and blue of Villa came at the City of Manchester Stadium before his second Premier League outing was at Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately, Villa were on the receiving end in both those games making it a baptism of fire for the Nottingham-born hotshot.

However, he went on to make eight more appearances in the top division that year and last season got his retribution as he was a used substitute in a 3-2 victory over Manchester City at Villa Park.

He spent a month on loan in the Championship with Doncaster Rovers at the back end of the previous campaign before featuring significantly in Villa’s remaining fixtures helping them to survival in the Premier League.
