Gaffer finally lands his man Brandy...

Steve Evans admits this isn’t the first time he’s tried to sign Febian Brandy after finally getting his man today.

The Millers boss approached him during his time with his previous club and even as recently as last season when the exciting winger opted to join the club across South Yorkshire.

“Febian is a young man who I tried to sign on a couple of occasions including last summer, when he thought at the time that Sheffield United would give him a platform to be playing Championship football this coming season.”

Brandy made just 15 appearances for the Bramall Lane outfit last season, but spent the second-half of the season on loan at Walsall, impressing against the Millers late in the campaign and netting four goals for Dean Smith’s side.

“He is a talented player and as I have said to him over the last two days he can be anything he wants to be on a football field, but he’s well aware of what’s expected of him as a player at New York Stadium.

“It was a complete surprise to see him available at no cost and given the admiration that all my staff and I have for him, we in turn moved quickly to add him to the squad.

“He is in no doubt that he has significant competition for a place in this team but given how talented this lad, I know he will welcome the opportunity to fight for a starting shirt.”
