Tuesday 3rd June saw Rotherham United Community Sports Trust hold a Dementia Awareness Conference at New York Stadium.

The Dementia Awareness Conference was attended by 60 people including guest speakers; Cllr John Doyle (Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care), Liz Hopkinson (Service Manager for Rotherham & Doncaster Alzheimer's Society), David Coldrick (Managing Director of Home Instead Senior Care), Azizzum Akhtar (Chief Executive of Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance) and Ruth Fletcher-Brown (Public Health Speciality).

After all the guest speakers had spoken, lunch was provided and there was the opportunity for networking as well as 12 market stalls from different organisations such as Mature Millers Association, Home Instead Senior Care, ROPF, Speak up, Rotherham & Doncaster Alzheimer’s Society, NHS and many more.

Ryan Canadine, Health Officer said “It was great to raise the awareness of dementia with a wide range of groups across Rotherham attending the event from health professionals to care home staff to the general public.”

Jamie Noble, Head of Community said “I would like to thank those who supported the event and everyone that attended. The conference was a huge success and I hope that everyone enjoyed it.”
