Robert Milsom talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Midfielder Rob Milsom believes the Millers’ ‘winning mentality’ could be key as the squad continue preparations for the upcoming season.

Milsom and his teammates are currently into their first full day of a pre-season tour of Scotland and preparations are well underway for the first friendly against Greenock Morton tomorrow.

After signing during the summer of 2013, initially on a short-term deal, Milsom played a key role in the Millers rise up the League One table, earning him a long-term stay at New York Stadium.

After clinching promotion to The Championship via the play-offs in May the former Aberdeen ace is relishing the challenge ahead, citing the Millers mental attitude as a vital component of their success so far.

“I think we can do well. We have a good squad of players here, there is real competition for places, so I don’t see why we can’t go well in this division,” he told www.themillers.co.uk

“After back-to-back promotions there is a real winning mentality about the place and we will be looking to carry that momentum into next season.”

The Millers face Morton tomorrow at Cappielow Park before a double-header with Falkirk and Queen of the South on the 18th and 19th July. With two weeks of pre-season firmly under their belts, Milsom has admitted that preparations are going well ahead of the big kick off on August 9th.

“It has been good so far, as you would expect it has been tough, but everyone is working well and the lads have come back looking fit,” he added.

“Touring Scotland has served us well in the past and we are looking forward to some tough games. It is important that we get a good pre-season under our belt; it sets you up for what is always a busy start to a season.”
